WSQ Advanced Certificate in MICE and Events

Overview

The WSQ Advanced Certificate in MICE and Events is a Supervisory level qualification requiring students to complete 9 Competency Units (4 Core units and 5 Elective units) attain at least 26 credits.

Students of the WSQ Advanced Certificate in MICE and Events will gain knowledge and become competent in skills from a broad range of highly-developed supervisory skills specific to the MICE and event industry.

Content

The WSQ Advanced Certificate in MICE and Events course includes coverage of essential financial, loss prevention, staff training and staff supervision skills. Ths WSQ course also provides a selection of supplementary knowledge (selected to meet industry and/or individual need) drawn from MICE and events operations, sales and marketing and service excellence.

Course Developer

This WSQ course has been developed by the Workforce Development Agency and William Angliss Institute.

Entry Requirement

  • WSQ ES Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) Level 6 or equivalent.

Mode of Instruction

Instruction may include lectures, discussions, excursions, guest speakers, demonstrations, case-studies, practical exercises and activities.

Assessment

Competency Based Assessment for the WSQ Advanced Certificate in MICE and Events may include Practical Performance, Role Plays, Oral Questioning, Workplace Observation, Written Questions, Industry Research Projects and/or feedback from workplace Supervisors.

Certification

Upon successful completion of this WSQ course, trainee will receive a WSQ Advanced Certificate in MICE and Events.

Articulation

For progression, participants can pursue the WSQ Diploma in Tourism (Managerial level).

Duration of Course

The duration of the WSQ Advanced Certificate in MICE and Events is 270 hours:

  • WSQ course Core units - 106 hrs
  • WSQ course Electives - 146 hrs
  • WSQ course Assessment - 18 hrs

WSQ course Assessment hours for each unit are approximately 2 hours.

Mode of Delivery

The WSQ Advanced Certificate in MICE and Events has two modes of delivery:

  • Part-time and
  • possibly full-time.

Average teacher-student ratio

1 teacher to a maximum of 20 students.
